Flagstaff Waste is currently seeking a motivated individual to take on a variety of responsibilities including Customer Service, Site maintenance, Recovery, Sorting & Reporting of Recyclables. Baler & Skid Steer operation. This is a physically intensive position, You will be required to work outdoors frequently, and to fill in other positions as needed.
Class 5 License (Class 3 License an asset)
Basic Welding
Skid Steer experience
Good with People
Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple tasks efficiently.

Landfill Recycle & Recovery / Yard Hand

Function:

• Responsible for direct diversion of recyclable and other materials from waste stream, ensuring waste stream integrity, waste separation, packaging and baling recyclables, loading outbound recyclables, landscaping and litter picking

Qualifications:

• Alberta Class 5 (3 better) drivers license, ability to operate a variety of shop and landfill equipment, mechanical aptitude and ability, and customer service aptitude.

• First Aid, WHMIS, waste management experience are all considered assets

• Able to work with a minimum of supervision, good at problem solving, work alone and with others, ability to prioritize, self starter and self motivator.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and to work extended periods in various weather conditions

Areas Of Responsibility:

a) Able to operate scale for inbound loads, ability to assess loads and communicate effectively to ensure recyclables and other diversions are separated and unloaded in the proper location in the landfill. Assist customers with orientation and unloading when necessary.

b) Operate recycling equipment at landfill including skid steer loaders, tractor, gator, trucks, and other equipment as required from time to time.

c) Able to assess hazards and other risks to public at landfill and reduce risk through use of barriers, equipment to remove hazards, or communicate with supervisor as required. Understand landfill safety procedures, standard operating procedures and apply them.

d) Assist with burro operation on short weeks

e) Grass trimming, landscaping, litter picking, pesticide container amalgamation, C&D diversion.

f) Other duties as assigned.
